22 seasons of service for Matt Guadagnin

Thursday, November 3, 2022 - 11:56 AM

Midfield Coach, Matt Guadagnin has informed the Club that after 22 seasons he is taking a break from coaching to spend more time with family and tend to his wheat and sheep farm. Matt commenced with the Club in 2001 and made his league debut in 2002. Over 18 years he would carve out an extraordinary playing career finishing with 192 League Games including the 2013 Premiership. After retiring in 2018 when he suffered a significant hamstring injury in the Reserves, Matt moved into coaching. Keen to give back to the Club and with the arrival of Geoff Valentine, Guadagnin has for the past 4 seasons (69 games) coached the Falcons midfield.

Winning the premiership this season was a fitting reward for the tireless effort Matt has given to the Club over two decades. Since 2003, Matt has driven from his farm (first in Southern Cross and later from York) and made the return trip to Joondalup multiple times each week for training and game days. He retires having played major roles in the Club’s last two league premierships and his legacy will be forever etched into our club’s history. On behalf of everyone at West Perth we wish Matt, his wife Karly and their daughters Riley & Darcy all the very best for their futures.
