Rodriguez Shield to Falcons in 2022
West Perth have won the WAFL Rodriguez Shield for the best performed WAFL Club across
all grades in 2022. This is just the 4 th time the Club has secured the Shield, with the last one
20 years ago in 2002.
GM of Football Operations, Steve Trewhella stated “the Shield is recognition for a lot of hard
work at all levels of the Club. It’s a credit to all our coaches, players, strength and conditioning,
medical teams, all our volunteers, our board and administration and everyone who has
played a role in the performance of our Club, not just this season, but over several seasons
to get to this position. To finish the home and away rounds with all three grades finishing on
top of the ladder is a terrific result and a first for the Club in over 130 years of its history.
The opportunity that now awaits in this finals series is exciting. We understand that much
hard work lies ahead for us to achieve our ultimate goals, but what we have done is put
ourselves in a very good position to challenge. For our sponsors and members its
recognition for your support and connection with the Club and we look forward to your
continued support as we head into September”.
