Moora Citrus Invests in the Future of Female Football

Tuesday, March 15, 2022 - 12:12 PM

The West Perth Football Club it’s pleased to announce a partnership with Moora Citrus for 2022.

The club is relaunching it’s Female Talent Academy which was piloted in 2021 with 17 participants. This academy, now known as the Moora Citrus Female Football Academy, is designed as an opportunity for identified individuals within the West Perth zone to experience elite-level coaching and skill development, access to Strength and Conditioning via Athletic Institute and education around nutrition and diet, resilience, leadership, and professional habits.

This program takes a holistic approach to the development of the youth-females in West Perth’s zone in what is expected to become our new ‘feeder-program’ to our Rogers Cup program moving forward.

West Perth Football Club CEO, Joe McCarthy, is positive that an investment like this, into the future of female football in our zone can only strengthen the junior clubs in our zone:

“I’m pleased to have Moora Citrus on board as our partner in this space. As a club, we’ve seen the talent available in our zone grow exponentially and with the assistance of Moora Citrus, we can harness the potential of individuals looking to take their football further.”

Operating once a fortnight, the club wants to ensure that the skill development that participants receive will benefit the junior clubs of our zone and Head of Female Development, Luke Richardson, believes working collaboratively with clubs in our zone is key for the future of female football:

“This program is a resource we hope our junior clubs can capitalise on. Hosting identified individuals once a fortnight means these players are with their junior club programs more often. I’m excited by this partnership with Moora Citrus and together with West Perth and our junior clubs, we’ll help grow the game.”

Of 2021’s 17 participants, 10 were elevated into our Rogers Cup squad for 2022 with a further 2 being selected by another WAFLW club for their Rogers Cup squad.

The club wishes to thank Moora Citrus for their significant contribution and partnership in what looks to be an exciting time ahead for all involved.
