FALCONS APPOINT CO-CAPTAINS

The Falcons will be led by Co-Captains in season 2022 as Dean Munns partners with Sandover Medallist and veteran Aaron Black. Munns and Black were voted in by their peers during the recent pre-season camp to York. Black will enter his fifth consecutive year as skipper whilst for Munns it will be his first.

Black has been inspirational with his on-field leadership over the past four years leading the Falcons to finals each time and is excited for the additional support and challenge that lies ahead.

“Being able to leverage my current experience to help our next group of leaders grow is exciting and at the same time having Dean as a Co-Captain to learn and grow with is a fantastic opportunity. I’m looking forward to it Black said.

For Munns it was acknowledgement of his growth as a leader and his selflessness in putting the team first which has been a consistent trait of his since arriving at the Club and making his league debut in 2016.

Munns has twice won the Wayne Dayman Medal as the Most Courageous Player and has been a mainstay in defence during his 86 league games. Dean’s connection with the Club is deep with his father Ross playing 46 league games between1983 – 1987.

“It’s an enormous honour to be voted by your peers to Captain the Club. West Perth has been a constant in my life and my family’s life and to have the opportunity to captain alongside Aaron is a privilege. This Club has high expectations and I’m looking forward to the challenge that the Captaincy will bring” Munns said.

Blake Wilhelm and Tyler Keitel will remain Vice-Captains to be joined by Luke Meadows.

Senior coach Darren Harris congratulated all players on their appointments. “It’s a terrific leadership group that exemplifies our Club’s values and understands what’s required to be the best we can be”.
