2014 International Round

International Football Festival

AFL - Uniting Australia

Unique jumper to embrace the World

West Perth Football Club's league team will play in a special one-off World Jumper in Round 16 to embrace its international community and build on the successes of this event in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014.

West Perth CEO David Crute said that after the success of its International Round in 2013, with more than 6000 people attending, the club had recognized the need to further explore the initiative. The Falcons District do an exceptional job working through our local community- we are looking at a crowd of 7000 people this year.

It’s an exciting concept and last year was a huge success. In 2014 we will embrace our entire community. Our jumper is representative of the top 8 countries of birth of our local community population (born outside of Australia), we will embrace all new Australians. If the Falcons can unite our community – AFL can unite Australia,” he said.

The promotion is being driven by the West Perth Football District with the support of the West Perth Football Club Board and the West Australian Football Commission.

The game against Subiaci on Saturday August 12 is tipped to attract another strong crowd made up of footy die-hards and new Australians. We are even more excited to announce that the City of Joondalup will host a Citizenship Ceremony as part of the days events prior to the start of the league game.

What to expect:
• Free Footy Tickets to local school kids
• The Falcons to play in a one-off World Jumper - recognizing its growing community
• Large Kids Zone with Bouncy Castles, Face Painting, Super Slide, Sports Activities and more
• Free Footy Skills for kids at half time for kids at Quinns Rocks Primary School.
• International Food Stalls
• British Beer Tent
• A great game of footy

West Perth District Manager Andrew Ridley said the aim was to engage new Australians and promote Australia’s indigenous game while welcoming new communities to football.

The West Perth District (Hillarys north to Two Rocks) has the fastest growing migrant and multicultural demographic in the state and includes:
• 67% of people with one or more parents born overseas
• 46% of people born overseas (Australian average 20%)
• 9 of 28 suburbs with a UK birth population greater than 28%
• 9% of the population has migrated in the last 3 years

The West Perth Football District will visit 30 local Primary Schools leading up to the game to promote the game.

Bring your friends, family, kids ... anyone else down to the match on July 12 for a great day out at the footy!

Up on the hill (under the score board) at the match the Falcons are excited to promote our Kids Zone.

With Bouncy Castles, Super Slides, Sports Activities, Face Painting, Give-Aways and more this is a great free day out and an activity to entertain the kids while Mum and Dad can enjoy some great WAFL Football.

Watch out for the new Kicking Tunnel where you can measure how fast you kick the ball!
