FALCONS FIXTURE FOR 2014 WAFL SEASON

Saturday, December 21, 2013 - 5:26 PM

THE fixtures for West Perth's WAFL premiership defence have been released for the 2014 season.

West Perth will play arch-rivals East Perth, Claremont, East Fremantle and Swan Districts three times in 2014, and Peel Thunder, Perth, South Fremantle and Subiaco just the twice.
That will include two clashes against the Royals at Leederville's Medibank Stadium, two trips to the Claremont Showgrounds to take on the Tigers and two games at Bassendean's Steel Blue Oval against Swan Districts.
Meanwhile, the Falcons will host East Fremantle twice at Arena Joondalup, Swan Districts twice and Claremont, Perth, South Fremantle, Peel Thunder, East Perth and East Fremantle just the once.
West Perth's 2014 season will begin away to East Fremantle in Round 1 on Saturday March 22 before the following Saturday will be the first home clash for the season at Arena Joondalup against Claremont where the Falcons will unfurl the 2013 premiership flag.
The Falcons then remain at home the following week to take on Perth before the first derby of the year against East Perth at Medibank Stadium in Round 4 on Saturday April 12.
It's then back home to host South Fremantle before the now annual Anzac Day clash with Swan Districts at Steel Blue Oval in Round 6.
West Perth then returns to Foxtel Cup action to face VFL premiers the Box Hill Hawks at Etihad Stadium on Tuesday May 6.
After the week off from WAFL action, West Perth hosts Peel Thunder in Round 8 before taking on Subiaco at Leederville leading into the state game against the NEAFL in Sydney on Saturday May 24.
The state game then leads into the WA (Foundation) Day derby for 2014 that will take place at Arena Joondalup against East Perth.
The Falcons then play their first game of the season in Round 11 at the Showgrounds against Claremont before hosting East Fremantle in Round 12 that will either lead into a bye or a Foxtel Cup semi-final.
West Perth then takes on South Fremantle at Fremantle Oval in Round 14 before hosting both Swan Districts and Subiaco at Arena Joondalup in Rounds 15 and 16 before either another bye or the Foxtel Cup grand final.
That again leads into the third meeting of the season against East Perth in Round 18 at Medibank Stadium before two straight home games against Swan Districts and East Fremantle in Rounds 19 and 20.
They will be West Perth's last two home matches, though, as the reigning WAFL premiers then finish the season on the road to Peel, Claremont and Perth.
