WEST PERTH FOOTBALL CLUB STATEMENT ON CITY OF JOONDALUP PARTNERSHIP

THE Board of Directors of the West Perth Football Club acknowledge receipt of a letter from Mayor Troy Pickard regarding the renewal of our current three-year sponsorship agreement with the City of Joondalup. 

We confirm the letter contains the following Council Resolution:

"The City of Joondalup advises the West Perth Football Club Inc. that the City will not enter into any further sponsorship agreements with the West Perth Football Club after the agreement in Part 1 above expires, unless the Club has changed its name to better reflect its location and home at Arena Joondalup."

Earlier this year the Board commenced commercial negotiations with the City of Joondalup with regard to renewing this long-term and valued partnership. 

Further we confirm that no decision has yet been made and, if as reported recently via the media a name change is a condition of our partnership renewal, we confirm that a consultation process with our membership will be required by the City of Joondalup prior to entering any agreement.

As many of you may be aware only current financial Members of the West Perth Football Club will be invited to participate in such a process if it occurs. Membership applications for 2016 close on June 30. We therefore encourage all supporters to become financial Members by this date to be part of the club that has 131 years of history in the WAFL.
