Young footballers from West Perth’s country and metropolitan zones got the chance to show off their skills in the City/Country Carnival held at Arena Joondalup on Sunday 11th July.
Two teams chosen from the metropolitan zone took on the Falcon’s Country Development Squad in a three-way round robin competition.
The purpose of the day was four-fold.
1) To give local players the opportunity to represent their District and reward good playing form and sporting conduct.
2) To give the West Perth country players a development opportunity to play against city based teams
3) To foster a spirit of co-operation between all West Perth zoned players, both country and metro based.
4) To allow District players to appreciate the skills of other players they usually compete against, and develop a rapport amongst these players.
Player Development Manager Liam Casson summed up the City/Country Carnival as a “resounding” success.
“There was some great football played on the day and all in the right spirit,” he said. “We got a great deal of positive feedback that the content of the day was well received-The day itself was a true celebration of Youth Football, and it was a privilege to be part of it.”
The West Perth Football Club would like to thank everyone involved for their valuable contribution in making the 2010 WPFC Country/District Carnival such a success this year.
