WEST COAST EAGLE FLIES INTO FALCONS NEST
Posted on 09/01/2012
Former West Coast Eagle player Jordan Jones has agreed to a two year contract with the West Perth Football Club.
Jones, originally from the Geelong Falcons, was recruited by the West Coast Eagles and has spent the past three years on their list. Jones' performance in the 2008 Under 18 National Championships for Vic Country as a centre half back saw him drafted at pick 52 of that year.
Jones finished third in Peel Thunder’s Fairest and Best award in season 2011. He has played some of his best football against the Falcons in our last two losses to Peel in 2010 and 2011. Jones was also awarded Peels “Most Consistent” trophy for his 2011 season. The 21 year old played a total of 47 games for Peel Thunder and 2 games for West Coast.
Jones trained recently with the Western Bulldogs upon their invitation in the hope of being re drafted to the AFL. Whilst this did not happen the door is certainly not shut with as many as 37 mature age players being drafted this year for 2012.
West Perth see an exciting future for Jordan who can play as a running back, key position or a mobile midfielder. West Perth Football Manager Brad Lukosius said “Jordan was a key recruiting target for the Club because he would add versatility to the midfield and / or defence and has been a consistently strong performer in the WAFL for the past few seasons.”
We welcome Jordan to the Falcons and wish him well for 2012.
